Welcome to the Enfield Town Library!

The mission of the Enfield Public Library is to be a focal point of the Enfield community by providing all residents and community members with a variety of resources and activities that educate, enrich, and entertain. The library strives to provide a welcoming environment that inspires lifelong learning and community engagement.

	Event Announcements via the ListServ: Hello All! We try to keep this website updated and current, but we also use the (sometimes faster) Enfield Listserv for many last minute reminders and more spontaneous events. Please join here for these lastest updates and notifications.

Special Programs:



	Hampstead Stage presents FRANKENSTEIN Three actors playing multiple characters perform an original adaptation exploring Victor Frankenstein’s maddening journey of creation and failure. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

	Freestyle STEM! Stop by any time the library is open to experiment. Ages 8 and up with a helper, please. Always available: Snap Circuits October: 3-D Doodler Pens November: Magformers December: Ozobot

Ongoing Weekly Events:


	My First Storytime, Tuesdays Every Tuesday at 10am. Babies to age 2½ on a caregiver’s lap will enjoy books, songs, and rhymes supporting early literacy, lots of movement, and socializing.

	My First Storytime, The Saturday Edition NEW!! --> Special Saturdays (09/16, 10/21, and 11/18) @ 9:30am. Babies to age 2½ on a caregiver’s lap will enjoy books, songs, and rhymes supporting early literacy, lots of movement, and socializing.

	It's a D.E.A.L.! (Drop Everything And Listen) Every other Wednesday 3:30p-4:30p. Relax, have a snack and be read to. *...alternating with...* Puzzle Club Every other Wednesday 3:30p-4:30p. Build jigsaw puzzles together. Both for 1st through 5th graders.


	Preschool Storytime Every Wednesday at 10am. Best for ages 2½-5, longer stories read and told, songs, rhymes, lots of movement, and a simple craft.

	Knitting Group Meets every Wednesday morning from 10am-12pm.

Ongoing Monthly Events:


	Make It / Take It Mondays October through May: First Monday of the Month at 3:30pm. Drop by any time between 3:30 and 5:00pm for a fun arts and crafts project for First Graders to Adults. If you are under 8 years old, please bring an adult or teen helper.

	Book Group Meets the last Thursday of the month, 6:30pm-7:30pm.

Museum Passes:

Rules for borrowing a museum pass:
Have a library card at the Enfield Town Library Contact information (address and phone number) on file Be a patron in good standing (no overdue materials and/or fines) Agree to be responsible for returning the pass on time, or pay a fee of $10 per day overdue Agree that if you lose the pass, you will be responsible for the replacement cost
	To borrow a museum pass:
	Visit or call the library during library hours to reserve a pass Passes are available for a 3 day checkout You may only checkout one pass per household at a time You must be 18 years of age or older to check out a pass If a pass is returned late, it is at the discretion of the librarian if you will be able to check out passes in the future

Currently, the Library offers passes to the following museums:

Enfield Shaker Museum - Enfield, NH

Family Pass: two adults and four children ages 17 and under
Senior Pass: two adults 65 and over (not to be used with Family Pass)

“General admission includes the introductory video program, self-guided tour booklet, exhibits and seasonal craft demonstration. During the summer and fall season, you receive access to other historic buildings, the Herb and Production Gardens, the Community Garden and the Feast Grounds at the top of Mt. Assurance.”

Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) - Quechee, VT

Admission for 4 people

“The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is a nonprofit, member-supported, environmental education, research and avian rehabilitation organization headquartered at the VINS Nature Center in Quechee, Vermont. Open year-round, the 47-acre campus, adjacent to Quechee State Park, features 17 state-of-the-art raptor enclosures, 4 exhibit spaces, 2 classrooms, and ¾ miles of interpretive nature trails. VINS places a priority on making high-quality, compelling, and fun environmental education programs and learning opportunities accessible to more people and communities.”

Billings Farm and Museum - Woodstock, VT

Family Pass: 2 adults and their children under the age of 18

“Explore one of the finest operating dairy farms in America and a museum of Vermont's rural past – your gateway to Vermont's rural heritage. Billings Farm features many aspects of farm work, including care of the Jersey cows and other livestock, milking of the herd, crop rotation, and feed production. Interactive programs in the farmhouse for visitors and students interpret 19th century agricultural improvement, butter production, and domestic life. Engaging exhibits housed in 19th century barns depict the annual cycle of rural life and work, as well as the cultural values of Vermont farm families a century ago.”

"New Items" General Update:

Hello All,

Due to large amounts of items coming in the door, it is near impossible to keep this page current. New books, audiobooks, and DVDs are frequently arriving on our racks, in addition to the constantly rotating portion of DVD collections among the Upper Valley Libraries. Please feel free to stop in, say 'hello', and peruse our numerous "new arrival" shelves. We may revisit this page once things settle down a bit or we can streamline such a process. Thank you.

The very first Library Report appeared in the 1896 Town Report. In it, the Commissioners write; “There are at present 502 volumes in the library. Larger accommodations will soon be needed, for the library has outgrown its present room.”

As of today, the library is facing the same situation. While we currently enjoy access to thousands of books and other materials, we have run out of room for our most important resource: people! With a new space we could increase programming for children and adults while also serving as a community gathering space. Documents relating to the new building project are linked below and please consider making a donation. Any questions can be directed to the Town Librarian.
